Økern Center / Steen & Strøm

Located in the heart of Hovinbyen , one of Oslo’s most ambitious urban development areas, the Økern Centre will become the new central hub of this rapidly growing district. In line with the urban strategies “Oslo towards 2030 – Smart, Safe and Green” and “Oslo towards 2040 – Our City, Our Future”, the redevelopment focuses on a modern and sustainable mixed-use destination featuring approximately 155 shops and 60,000 m² of GLA .

Conceptional was part of the project team and was responsible for the development of the Food & Beverage master plan . This began with a thorough analysis of the local food culture and consumer preferences to align with the needs of urban Norwegians, for whom convenience and hospitality are central.

The strategy determines the positioning of F&B brands and concepts that reflect Norwegian pride and craftsmanship, combined with local, national, and international cuisines . Additionally, Conceptional provided recommendations for spatial layout and partner selection to achieve a balanced, future-proof mix that positions Økern Centre as an attractive destination for both residents and visitors.
