Curious what we can do for you?
“Café Americain: the place to meet, inspire and above all a place where you can eat & drink throughout the day.”
The iconic restaurant Café Americain reopened its doors on the 18th of December 2017. The restaurant is located at Leidseplein in the vibrant heart of Amsterdam. In the fifties, the restaurant was the place to meet with each other, this has been transformed into a modern restaurant with a classic twist. Both the menu and the Interior has been transformed with Class & Classics as starting point.
Inspired by the rich history of the American Hotel and with ‘Class & Classics’ as starting point, Studio Linse has created the design of Café Americain.
The design is very much in keeping with the historic features of the building and has a modern twist, which makes it timeless. The wall paintings, the Art Deco stained glass and the Tiffany lights refer to the rich history of Café Americain.
On the wall at the entrance of the restaurant, a display of more than ninety pictures, drawings, and paintings relating tot the history of Café Americain and the American Hotel is shown.
Not only the building, but also the restaurant exudes style, due to the high ceilings, the massive columns and the warm lightning. The bar is the central point of the new Café Americain, the heart of the matter where coffee, wines, snacks can be consumed, a place where a variety of people feel at ease and come together. The bar is a stage for her beloved Amsterdam, with tastings of local spirits and products.
“ Classic dishes with a modern taste”
The menu is developed by Peter Gast, a Star chef. The dishes are classy, presented in a modern way and prepared with local products and ingredients. Products of Amsterdam are completed with Dutch ingredients. Café Americain is working together with Slagerij De Wit, Patisserie Holtkamp, Saus Guru, Vlaamsch Broodhuys and Frites uit Zuyd.
The traditional hotel buffet is changed into a delicious Amsterdam breakfast platter including a croissant, fresh bread, local cheese and traditional Amsterdam ox sausage. The breakfast platter can be expanded with various à la carte dishes. The lunch and dinner dishes are the best classics, presented with a ‘golden touch’. The steak tartare is prepared at the table on the tartare trolley. If guests choose for a dessert, the staff comes along your table with the patisserie trolley. From breakfast up to cocktail hour, guests can spend the day at Café Americain.
